Patricia Calhoun
Editor-in-Chief at Westword Patricia Calhoun is the editor of Westword, the Denver weekly (and now 24/7 website) she founded in 1977. She's a member of the Colorado Restaurant Hall of Fame, the Colorado Press Club Hall of Fame and was the first person inducted into the Alternative Media Hall of Fame. She's won numerous national journalism awards, including first-place prizes from the Society of Professional Journalists for both her column and feature writing. She's been regular on Colorado Inside Out, Colorado12's weekly public affairs roundtable, for more than thirty years, and once interviewed President Bill Clinton...while wearing flipflops (it's a long story). She also played a real journalist in the John Sayles's movie Silver City.
What made you interested in the position of a Food Fight Judge?
"Colorado's restaurant industry has become so vibrant in recent years, and I love seeing what up-and-coming chefs can do. And when they're doing it for a laudable cause, it's a winning recipe." Jamey Fader
Culinary Director at Marczyk Fine Foods Jamey has a storied background. He was the Director of Culinary for the Big Red F restaurant group, overseeing 14 stores and 6 concepts. He was the founder and chef of Lola, which won awards such as Best New Restaurant, Top Places to drink tequila in America, and the best ceviche bar. He was also 5280 Chef of the Year 2004, co-founder of Dos Casas charity to benefit Brent’s Place, and a four-time member of Denver Five, representing Denver at Aspen Food and Wine and The James Beard House.
Jamey found his way to Marczyk Fine Foods after a long-time friendship with Pete, Paul, and Barbara. When it was time to find a new culinary director, Chef Fader was the first choice: He was looking for a new opportunity and adventure outside of the restaurant industry; the MFF team was looking to expand and grow their brand. It was a perfect fit. What made you interested in the position of a Food Fight Judge?
"I enjoy supporting a great cause while being able to stay connected with the chefs and food scene of Denver. Being front and center at an event that supports both feels like a wonderful way to spend the evening." What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming event? Jayne Ann Buck
Former VP of Tourism for Visit Denver Jayne is a Minnesota native who served as the Vice President of Tourism at VISIT DENVER, the marketing organization for Denver, from 1999-2020, managing all national and international leisure marketing efforts. She was instrumental in developing tourism programs that include Denver Arts Week, Go the EXTRA Mile Hospitality Training and Mile High Holidays, and she honed her skills in marketing, strategic planning, partnership development and public speaking. Jayne also worked closely with Denver International Airport and the Colorado Tourism Office to pursue and maintain international nonstop flights.
Jayne launched her own consulting agency, Good Hue, LLC in July 2020, after retiring from her full-time position at VISIT DENVER. Her consulting expertise includes marketing, writing, strategic planning and project management. Jayne’s free time is passionately spent exploring art, food and wine, or traveling to visit friends and family (including 5 grandchildren), and she is forever on the lookout for the next unique piece of contemporary jewelry. What made you interested in the position of a Food Fight Judge?
"I was honored to be asked, love helping a great cause, and rarely pass up a fun culinary adventure. The more I heard about the event, the more excited I was to participate." What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming event? "There is so much creative talent in Denver's food scene, not to mention all the innovative mixologists, all with plenty of passion for what they do. I am excited about all the tastes that will be shared. This will definitely be a not-to-miss evening to support an important cause." |
